What is S.A.C.R.E.D.?

S.A.C.R.E.D. is the young adult/college ministry of Central Baptist Church.

As St. Anselm put it, ours is a "faith that seeks understanding." The goal of S.A.C.R.E.D. is to provide young adult Christians an environment to grow both in their faith and in their understanding of God. Christians face objections to their faith from both the academic world and the world of pop culture, and you've probably encountered some of these. This is where Christian apologetics comes in.

Christian apologetics is the art of giving a defense for the faith and it is on of the key focuses of S.A.C.R.E.D.'s ministry. S.A.C.R.E.D. seeks to provide credible answers to some of the toughest objections from the secular arena, in order that we might always be "prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks...for a reason for the hopes that is in [us]" (1 Peter 3:15).

Another key focus of S.A.C.R.E.D.'s ministry is discipleship. The Christian life is one of continual sanctification and conformity into the image of Christ by the grace of God. Through studying God's word and apply its principles to our lives, Christians can grow to be more like Jesus. S.A.C.R.E.D., through means of serious communal prayer and Bible study, offers an environment that encourages Christians to grow spiritually and "put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator" (Colossians 3:10)
